Mackinnon & Saunders
Mackinnon & Saunders design and build high quality animation
puppets, models and maquettes.
Their clients past and present include HOT Animation, Warner
Bros., Cosgrove Hall, Aardman Animations, Nickelodeon UK, and
Disney to name but a few.
Mackinnon & Saunders ( M&S ), approached us in November
2003 to develop their first website. They wanted the site to act as
an online portfolio of their work. Because M&S design and make
puppets their site was obviously going to be very visually
orientated. We therefore designed a navigation method which relied
on thumbnail images of each pieces of work.
Because the images used on the site tended to
be protected, copyright proved to be a real issue. We
helped M&S by incorporating a system into their site which
allowed them to superimpose the copyright details of every picture
over the image in a subtle and unintrusive manner.
The bespoke administration system also allows M&S to add new
work as and when its has been completed. A very simple publish /
unpublish system also allowed us to add much of the content before
permission was granted. This meant once permission was approved
M&S could make the content visible with the click of a button. |
The images on the site are included with a flash based slide show.
This allows the site administrator to add multiple images to each
page, the images will then be slowly dissolved between on the
site.
Mackinnon & Saunders website has now been successfully running
since January 2004 and gets a good number of visits despite the
fact it only has around 20 pages.
